TV shows come and go! We enjoy them for the time they are on and revisit them via streaming or DVD, but overall they just entertain us! Few, if any, impact us on a personal level and fewer impact society in any way at all! Though one show has done that for many of us as well as the culture of the world and that of course is STAR TREK! This show with its utopian worldview has provided inspiration to many from human rights, social inclusion, science, space travel and has encouraged us to “boldly go where no one has gone before”. This show has forced us to look at how we, as the human race can achieve, and to consider issues that we are living through, it has made us laugh, awed us and made us look outward! How many other TV shows can claim this? In this episode Gerri and Eugenia talk all things Star Trek, from the original to the many incarnations of fan made homages to the idea and ideals of Gene Rodenberry. To celebrate the 50 YEARS, yes 50 YEARS that this show has been part of history, they have two amazing interviews with stars from the original Star Trek and they are Walter Koenig the original Pavel Chekov ,and Gary Lockwood who played Gary Mitchell in the episode “Where No Man has Gone Before”, (the first episode to been shown in the UK). Gerri and Eugenia would like to thank Lionel Midford from www.lionelmidfordpublicity.com and Daniel from www.supanova.com.au for the chance to interview these icons of Star Trek. To also celebrate the impact that this show has had with fans they also bring you interviews with Michele Specht and Kim Stinger from Star Trek: Continues, www.startrekcontinues.com a fan show with many celebrity guests from all over the Sci Fi world. Thanks again to Supanova for these interviews. Gerri and Eugenia dedicate this show to their friend Therese, who is no longer with them. This podcast exists because Therese introduced our hosts and due to that you are listening to them today! As Therese would say, keep on “Star Trekking Across the Universe”!

issuu podcast 108Yes, Eugenia and Gerri are talking about Star Trek again, and this time it is about the many faces seen and unseen! Sometimes actors appear as different characters in TV shows and its incarnations and that is what we have in this episode, in fact they have interviews with actors who have a combined 80+ years in the business. Eugenia and Gerri interview Suzie Plakson and Morgan Sheppard! Some may ask, whom did they play (yes, you will recognise them when you see them)? Suzie known to fans as K’Ehleyr the Klingon with a sense of humour, Dr Selar, (A character from the TNG episode Morgan was in) and Q, the mother of Q’s child Q and of course Tarah the Andorian from Enterprise. Morgan first appeared in the TOS movie Final Frontier, then onto Ira Graves in Schiziod Man (with Susie), Qatai in Voyager and then a Vulcan in Star Trek (2009), the only series they missed was DS9! Both are extremely talented with Suzie is an author, singer, artist, and sculptor! Check her out at http://www.suzieplakson.com . Morgan who is one and has worked with many icons of the movie industry is also one of a select few of actors appearing in Star Trek and Doctor Who (along with his son Mark Sheppard)! Eugenia and Gerri would like to thank Daniel and Lionel from http://www.supanova.com.au and http://www.lionelmidfordpublicity.com respectively for Suzie, and for Morgan Bill and Adele from Armageddon Expo, New Zealand http://www.armageddonexpo.com/nz/ .

issuu podcast 4.pubWhat more could a Trekkie ask for than an interview with Kirk and Spock at the same time. Well that is exactly what happens in episode four of Women Talk Sci Fi. There are three things which spring to mind when listening to Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.  Their dedication to their craft, the respect they have for those that have come before them and their great sense of humour.  Just like J.J. Abrams neither of these great actors claim to have been Trekkies when they accepted their new identities. It seems to be a recurring theme that may be distressing for many Star Trek fans. However they also share something else in common that alleviates that concern. That is a respect for both the characters they are playing and the fans that have come to love Star Trek. Without that respect a lot of damage could of been done to the beloved Star Trek franchise. That respect coupled with not being encumbered by expectations allows them to breathe new life into Star Trek. The humour that is on display in the interview is another promising glimpse into the new movie. Star Trek was always at its best when it didn’t take itself too seriously and had a good laugh at its own expense. J.J. Abrams certainly seems to have surrounded himself with a group of actors who desperately want to bring something of themselves to their characters whilst trying to remain true to the originals. This is an attitude that cannot be missed when listening to Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto talk about their experiences making this movie. It’s not all serious talk though and the two actors certainly have a few interesting stories to tell. So join Gerri, Eugenia and guest presenter Marlene with their round table interview with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.
