Some movies are just entertainment and some movies become “icons”! In this episode Gerri and Eugenia are talking about one such movie and that is 2001: A Space Odyssey. In fact this movie is all about “icons”, based on a short story by one of the icons of 20th century SF author Arthur C. Clarke and directed by Stanley Kubrick who of course is another icon! Now considered to be one of the greatest movies ever made, every “geek” on earth has watched this movie and everyone knows “Hal”! For a Sci Fi movie this was not of the ilk that people expected to see in that era, no creepy aliens and no bad sets! For its time this movie was scientifically accurate, had pioneering special effects, used classical music and little dialogue to tell a story about humanities relationship with the universe. That Hal was damn scary though! In this episode Gerri and Eugenia get to talk to the two other icons of the movie ,Gary Lockwood and Kier Dullea, Dave and Frank respectively!
